David Cassidy from the Crucible Snooker Club Cork played superb to win the
Leinster
under 15 open snooker championship in the Kilkenny snooker club over the weekend.
David beat Jason Devaney from Crossmolina Snooker Club in a fantastic final 3 frames to 2.
Cassidy won the first frame, but Devaney won the next two frames, Cassidy won the fourth to level at 2-2 and the decider went all the way to the final black.
Cassidy was faced with a difficult long black and the cork man decided to go for it, and got it to win the title.
In the semi finals David had earlier beaten fellow international Daniel O Regan from
Cork
3 frames to 0 , and Jason Devaney had beaten Michael Quirke from Kilkenny 3 frames to 1.
The Leinster Association thanked
Eugene Hughes
and Benny O Brien from Kilkenny Snooker Club for all their help and the use of their club on the day.
PJ Nolan – National Coach was the tournament Director on the day and was impressed to see so many new faces playing in the event and the tournament was a big success.
The Plate event was also a great competition with Josh Boileau from Naas and Keith Walsh from Kilkenny reaching the final, but it was the Kilkenny man who took the plate title 2 frames to 1.
The Highest breaks on the day were Jason Devaney 45, 46, Dylan Scully 38, Jason Hennessy 32 and the trophy went to Jason Devaney with a 48 break.
